Located in north western part of Spain, facing bay of Biscay, it has beautiful sand beach and cove surrounded by steep cliff. There is a series of mountains in inland area, north area is called "Picos de Europa" and protected as national park. Activities such as climbing, rafting and skiing can be done in the area. It is a popular summer retreat for Spanish due to is rainy weather, rich green land and chilly in summer environment. "Covadonga" in eastern part of the state is known as the edge of Reconquista which was a movement of Christians to recapture Iberian peninsula from long lasted dominance by Muslims.

Features
Afuega'l Pitu is produced at 13 villages along surrounded-by-mountain rivers of Narcea and Nalon in central Asturias. It is reputed as the most fertile land and the cheese tastes cow milk grown in rich pastures.
The cheese which is said the oldest cheese in Spain is produced without pressing milk and with natural slow consolidation by extracting whey.
"Afuega'l Pitu" is a dialect in farming area of Asturias which means "Clog throat of chicken". It is based on old tale that at the time of forming of milk after removing whey, someone gave the milk to chicken and it resulted clog in throat of chicken.
